ACSYS UK have just signed an agreement with Alpha Lasers to service the UK market with Alphas range of laser welding machines.
Alpha laser have been making laser welding machines for many years and with the advances in their laser power sources are now a world leader in portable welding machines.
The portable welders are able to repair very large casting, plant and equipment which would be impossible or very expensive to move, so allowing maintenance teams and TIG welding companies the advantages of using a laser welder in unorthodox working environments.
The big advantage to using a laser welder is the finish which is very neat and requires the very minimum of finishing, said Peter Chaplin ACSYS UK’s Technical & Sales Manager.
During welding the arm can be moved with a joystick, semi-automatically or under remote control, so giving the operator the option of doing a hands on, or, automatic job. The power created by Alphas own YAG lasers can be up to 300W which allows a peak power of 10Kw, so deep rapid welds are created in very quick times
Welding seams of up to 600mm can be made in one go without interruption and filer wires are available in a wide range of grades and sizes, again allowing for swift production times.
Not only does Alpha make portable machines, some even come with the option of being self propelled, but they are well established in the jewellery, electronic and medical markets as desktop units can again be manually operated or automatically seal, weld and attach all types of materials.
The picture shows a very interesting application where a membrane is being attached to a pressure sensor. In the medical industry components which are used as implants can be welded in sterile conditions.
